The 2017 Mazda CX-5 is redesigned inside and out with a quieter ride and new features. It’s a more refined and upscale crossover that boasts the versatility and comfort of the larger Mazda CX-9 with a more compact profile. 1. It’s new all over

Size-wise, the new Mazda CX-5 is similar to its predecessor. That’s where the similarities end. It’s available with an all-new 2.2-liter SKYACTIV-D® engine. The transmission is more responsive with quicker shifting. The suspension tuning is new and the body is 16 percent stiffer.

2. Its benchmark is the CX-9

The inspiration for the new Mazda CX-5 is its big brother, the Mazda CX-9. New sound absorption technology was borrowed from the Mazda CX-9 for a quieter ride. Standard G-Vectoring Control, a North American first for an all-wheel drive vehicle, adds to the improved handling. The new upscale interior and BOSE® premium sound system rival those of luxury vehicles that are in a class above.

3. It’s loaded with new features

Mazda listened to what customers really want in an SUV. New features include standard LED headlights and taillights, an available power liftgate, and full speed active cruise control.  Passengers will enjoy the reclining rear seatbacks and second-row air conditioning and heat vents, heated rear seats, and USB charging ports.

4. It’s available in Soul Red Crystal

Like its predecessor, Soul Red Metallic, the bold new red color is a three-coat process. But this one is 20 percent brighter with 50 percent greater depth. It will eventually be available on every Mazda as a premium paint option.

5. It’s finally here
